logo of the World Conference against Racism

On 31 Augus the third World Conference against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance opens in Durban in South Africa. The two earlier conferences were held in Geneva, home of the Office of the (United Nations) High Commissioner for Human Rights, in 1978 and 1983.

The conference was prepared in four regional meetings. In the Netherlands the Minister of Foreign Affairs has consulted the Advisory Board for International Problems on the position Holland is to take during the conference.

More information about the conference can be found on the websites of Human Rights Internet, Internet Centre Anti Racism Europe and WCAR NGO Forum.
