Full text of vol.34 - 2000 is available now! Studia Rosenthaliana is the world's only scholarly journal on the history, culture and heritage of the Jews in the Netherlands. Establised in 1967 by the late Dr L. Fuks and covering a variety of subjects such as the history of the Portuguese Jews in the Low Countries, topics on the local history of Jewish communities and on Jewish art in the Netherlands, Studia Rosenthaliana includes contributions by scholars such as Jonathan Israel, Yosef Kaplan and Herman P. Salomon. As of 1998, Amsterdam University Press is now the publisher of Studia Rosenthaliana. The Editorial Board includes staff members from the Bibliotheca Rosenthaliana, the Jewish Historical Museum and the Menasseh ben Israel Institute for Jewish Social and Cultural Studies. Moreover, the editorial board is supported by an international Advisory Board.
The new Studia Rosenthaliana is published in English only and contains two or three extensive articles in the field of history, culture and heritage of the Jews in the Netherlands, together with a new section of historical sources. The Bibliotheca Rosenthaliana, the Amsterdam Municipal Archives and the Amsterdam Jewish Historical Museum publish from their holdings and announce new acquisitions. This section is also designed for related bibliographical, art-historical of archival studies and for the publication of unpublished historical sources in the various languages used by the Jews of the Netherlands. The Notarial Records relating to the Portuguese Jews in Amsterdam form an integral part of this section.
A new section containing reviews, providing a forum for reviews of new publications is followed by a substantial bibliographical section listing recent publications on the Jews in the Netherlands, based primarily on the holdings of the Jewish Historical Museum and the Bibliotheca Rosenthaliana. Furthermore, each issue features a survey of news and coming events, based on data provided by the Menasseh ben Israel Institute and the Jewish Historical Museum.
